Professional Adult Educator and Trainer

Throughout her professional career Vanessa has been delivering a core of professional development programs through training, executive coaching, and team building events and retreats. As part of Building Blocks’ select team of instructors, she works with the company to make these programs available to a more diverse audience.

The training curriculum is centred on the development of skills such as assertiveness, emotional intelligence, conflict prevention and resolution, public speaking, and life planning for retirement. The courses and workshops that constitute these programs are designed not only to benefit participants, but also to provide a tangible return on investment to their employers through employee morale amelioration and a visible increase in customer retention.

Clients that benefited from these programs include public and private sector departments and companies, ranging from business and customer service teams, to communications branches, to strategic policy and management offices. Notable private sector clients include Canon Canada Inc., National Starch and Chemical, Brookflield Lepage, Johnson Controls, Group 4 Hapag-Lloyd and Tommy Hilfiger.

As well as training, Vanessa delivered keynotes on leadership, management and communication at conferences and forums for organizations including Public Service Human Resources Management of Canada, Greater Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, Canaccord Capital, International Personnel Management Association of Canada and the 2006 Women’s Day Conference.

Vanessa holds an Honours B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Dalhousie University, a Diploma in Adult Training and Development from University of Toronto, and a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
